The roads of Houston, Katy, and Memorial, Texas, demand an SUV prepared for whatever comes next. Compare the 2020 BMW X3 vs. Lexus NX, and you'll quickly see these two SUVs are indeed ready for the road ahead.

However, which SUV is the right fit for your Lone Star State lifestyle? Continue reading this vehicle comparison compiled by the team at BMW of West Houston, and you'll have the answer.

BMW X3 vs Lexus NX Performance Specs

The 2020 BMW X3 comes equipped with a powerful 2.0L turbocharged engine under the hood. With this 4-cylinder engine, you'll be behind the wheel of an SUV able to pump out 248 horsepower. You'll never tire of driving the X3 on the highways and byways, zipping through the streets as you go.

The 2.0L engine found under the hood of the Lexus NX is powerful, but it simply can't match what the X3 is capable of. After all, 235 horsepower can't match the horsepower rating of the X3.

You might think because the NX offers less horsepower it would at least be formidable in the fuel economy department. That's not the case, though, because the X3 engine delivers an EPA-estimated 25 city/29 highway MPG. The Lexus NX, on the other hand, only gets an EPA-estimated 22 city/28 highway MPG, a bit of a disappointment when it comes time to fill up.

BMW X3 vs Lexus NX Interior Space

When it comes to comparing these two SUVs and the space they have to offer their respective drivers, there's really no comparison. From top to bottom, the X3 bests the Lexus NX in numerous ways. We'll start with cargo capacity. The 2020 Lexus NX carries just 17.7 cubic feet of cargo space, more akin to some sedans or smaller vehicles you'd see on the road. With the BMW X3, you'll have over 60 cubic feet of space to play around with.

The X3 is also perfect for all drivers: With 41.1 inches of front headroom, even drivers right around six feet tall will feel like they have a home away from home. Without a moonroof, the Lexus NX has headroom up front of 38.2 inches that could have you feeling a bit cramped.

Smart Technology Features

Live Cockpit Plus featuring Navigation with iDrive 6.0 comes standard in the BMW X3. You'll have navigation information right in front of you on an 8.8-inch touchscreen with a digital instrument cluster providing plenty of important vehicle data, too. The Lexus Multimedia System provides similar info if you're driving the NX but on an 8-inch screen that's not as large as the one found in the X3.

As for smartphone capability, the X3 and the Lexus NX both offer Apple CarPlay® capability. With this feature, you'll be able to plug in your smartphone using the USB port, and your favorite phone apps and features will appear right on the screen in front of you. It's a great way to bring your phone along for the ride without having to constantly look away from the road to access it.
