Our BMW sales team is taking a closer look at luxury as we compare the 2020 BMW 5 Series vs. Audi A6. Keep reading to become an informed driver and find out which sedan may be the better fit for you.
5 Series vs A6 Performance
When we're talking about what's under the hood of these vehicles, they're quite similar. The BMW 5 Series comes with a 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that makes 248 horsepower. With the entry-level edition of the Audi A6, you'll also get a 248-horsepower engine.
While the power between the entry-level engines is similar, you can equip either vehicle with a more powerful offering. For instance, the 2020 5 Series can carry a 3.0L V6 engine that makes 335 horsepower. The more powerful A6 engine matches the 5 Series with its own 335-horsepower offering.
The 5 Series has the edge when it comes to fuel economy, though. It gets an EPA-estimated 25 city/33 highway MPG with the base engine, while the Audi A6 only gets an EPA-estimated 24 city/32 highway MPG.
5 Series vs A6 Infotainment
As the owner of a luxury vehicle, you'll have access to infotainment and tech features that can make your drives easier. The BMW 5 Series is a forward-thinking sedan with its Live Cockpit Professional feature coming standard.
This 12.3-inch instrument cluster provides plenty of vehicle information right in front of you, so there's no need to look away from the road to get it. The Audi virtual cockpit provides some of this same information, but a 12.3-inch cockpit doesn't come standard in the A6.
The center stack area of the BMW 5 Series is home to a 10.25-inch central information display, where you can interact with navigation features, music, and more. The 2020 Audi A6 doesn't offer a screen as large as the one you'll have in the BMW 5 Series.
BMW 5 Series vs Audi A6 Interior Space
Once you've stepped inside your luxury vehicle, you'll actually want to enjoy the ride. The 5 Series comes with 38.8 inches of front headroom, beating out the Audi A6 by about an inch. Front legroom in the 5 Series is also more generous than what you'll have in the A6.
The big difference between these two cars comes in the trunk. You'll have plenty of room for golf bags, groceries, luggage, and whatever else you're bringing along in the 5 Series with over 18 cubic feet of space. The Audi A6 is cramped, offering just 13.7 cubic feet of space. That can be the difference between bringing along a certain item or leaving it at home.
